Chapter 18

Janine stared at herself all night. Tore up, mutilated, and devoured. Not just by the initial beast that killed her, but by various animals, birds, insects, and bacteria. Each taking a little piece of her with them.

That morning the first two joggers of the day came across her remains. She watched as their faces contorted and twisted into masks of terror. They turned and ran back the direction they came as fast as they could.

One of them must have had a cell phone, because it didn't take long before the police arrived.

Her mutilated corpse was now part of a crime scene investigation. How cool is that right? Would they be able to figure things out and bring my attacker to justice? My attacker. The werewolf. Shit. There's no way in hell they'll be able to figure that one out.

She wasn't sure what to do. She was a ghost. How could she tell people about her killer? It was very frustrating standing there watching the living. Unable to speak to them. Unable to touch them.

I will never have justice.

Oh wait. What is that handsome young man staring at? I see nothing behind me. His eyes and mouth wide. He looks like he's seen a ghost.

Oh! It can't be. Is he staring at me? Surely not!

She walked towards him and he backed away. There was fear on his face. She felt so sorry for him, but needed help. If he can see me, he can help me? I wonder if he can hear me also.

"Hey! Hey! Can you hear me?" Janine shouted at him. She wasn't sure why she shouted. Maybe she felt far away. He must have heard her because he ran. She followed him. He was her only hope!

Janine wasn't sure how it happened. Suddenly, she appeared in front of him. She looked around confused when she heard him scream. He fell backwards and hit his head on the payment. "Oh, you poor thing. Are you okay?"

He screamed again when Janine reached to help him. She wasn't sure why she reached. She couldn't touch him, but wanted to so badly.

"Please! Don't run away! I need your help!"

No matter how much Janine tried. She couldn't get him to stop. He was too afraid. She didn't blame him.

If I saw and heard a ghost when I was alive, I would have been scared shitless. So weird that I'm the ghost. Have other ghosts been in my situation? It doesn't matter. I need to go after him.

He sure can fun fast. I think he must work out. Sexy. Oh gosh. What am I saying? Girl, you don't need to think about that now.

Janine considered appearing in front of him like last time.

I think it's best not to do that again. It would have scared me too. Maybe I should appear up ahead and to the side.

There. This is really cool!

Janine waved at him to stop, but he veered off and kept running. "It's okay! I won't hurt you! Please!" I know he heard me, because he looked back.
